AtelierFioreMI

A floral atelier in Milano working at the scale of a room, not a vase.

Founded by Beatrice Fiore-Lanzi and Tomás Ferrer in a former textile warehouse on Via Tortona, the studio takes eighteen weddings, a handful of editorial commissions and two or three architectural installations each year. Everything is drawn by hand before a single stem is cut.

01 — L’Atelier

Fourteensprings

We began with one bucket of anemones in a warehouse with no heating, and a stubborn idea: that flowers should be drawn before they are bought.

Beatrice trained as a set designer at the Accademia di Brera and spent six years dressing opera before she ever sold a stem, which is why the studio thinks in sightlines, entrances and the moment the lights come up. Tomás came from horticulture — nine seasons growing peonies outside Girona — and runs the field, the cold room and every load calculation.

We are deliberately small: six people, one van, one field. We turn away more work than we accept, and we quote once, honestly, with the drawing attached. Members of the Accademia Italiana del Fiore since 2016; Premio Verde for sustainable practice, 2023; carbon-neutral across studio and transport since 2019.

02 — Servizi

What the ateliermakes

Three disciplines, one method. Each is quoted as a single figure with the drawing attached — no line-item surprises, no per-stem arithmetic.

I

Nozze

Weddings & private celebration

One wedding a weekend, eighteen a year. We take the whole room — ceremony, table, terrace, the corridor nobody thinks about — and we build it as a single continuous gesture rather than a set of arrangements. Beatrice attends every install personally.

  • Site survey with the architect, not after them
  • Palette drawn from the dress fabric and the stone of the venue
  • Dismantle at dawn; stems replanted or composted at our Brianza field

From €12,000

II

Editoriale

Still life, campaign & set

Flowers that must survive eleven hours under a 2K and still read as alive on a 100-megapixel back. We work in tight collaboration with set designers and colourists, and we bring three of everything, because the third one is always the one that photographs.

  • Studio call time from 05:30, Milano & Como
  • Colour-managed swatch sheets sent before the shoot
  • Cold-room holding for multi-day campaigns

Day rate €2,400

III

Installazioni

Architectural & exhibition work

Suspended fields, wall-length hedgerows, a stair rail carried in hellebore for eleven days. Engineered with a structural consultant, rigged to load calculations, and specified so that a facilities manager can sign it off without flinching.

  • Load-tested rigging, certified to 3× working weight
  • Water-fed armatures for runs beyond seventy-two hours
  • Fully documented strike and reinstatement plan

From €4,800

04 — Il Metodo

Six movements,always in order

The method has not changed since 2013. It is slow on purpose: by the time we cut anything, every decision has already been made twice, on paper, in daylight.

  1. 01The conversation

    Il Colloquio

Ninety minutes in which flowers are not discussed. We ask about the house you grew up in, the last meal you remember properly, and what you want people to say in the car on the way home.

  2. 02The palette

    La Tavolozza

You bring three physical objects. A ribbon, a tile, a photograph, a jar of honey. The palette is built from those and from nothing else — never from a screen.

  3. 03The drawing

    Il Disegno

A hand-rendered elevation at 1:50 in graphite and gouache, delivered flat in a bone folder. It is a drawing, not a moodboard; it is what we are held to.

  4. 04The market

    Il Mercato

04:20 at the Mercato dei Fiori, Rogoredo. Forty per cent of what we cut comes from our own field above Besana in Brianza. The rest is chosen with our hands, twice.

  5. 05The staging

    La Messa in Scena

We install overnight so that you walk into a finished room. Conditioning begins forty-eight hours earlier in the cold room on Via Tortona.

  6. 06The leave-taking

    Il Congedo

Struck by 09:00 the next morning. Stems return to the field, armatures return to the rack, and the drawing is yours to keep, framed.

“If we cannot draw it, we do not agree to it.”

Beatrice Fiore-Lanzi, Direttrice

05 — Stampa & Collaborazioni

Press and collaborations

Fiore does not arrange flowers. She stages weather.
Rivista BiancaNumero 44 — “Il Fiorista che Disegna”
“The only studio in Milano whose drawings we would happily hang if the flowers never arrived at all.”
Casa Nove — Annual Interiors Review, 2025
“We gave them a cloister, eleven days of rain and a budget I was embarrassed by. What came back was the only thing anyone talked about for a year. They struck it at dawn and left the stone cleaner than they found it.”
Elena Marchetti-Vaux — Direttrice, Fondazione Vetro

Selected collaborations

  • Fondazione Vetro
  • Bianca Rossi Couture
  • Corsini Gioielli
  • Lume Editions

07 — Domande

Before youwrite

How far ahead should we write to you?

For a wedding, nine to fourteen months. We hold eighteen dates a year and the May–September dates tend to be spoken for eleven months out. Editorial and installation work we can often take at six weeks’ notice, and occasionally at six days.

Do you travel outside Milano?

Constantly. Como, Portofino, Firenze and Marrakech are routine; we have installed in Kyoto twice. Beyond 300km we work with a local grower for bulk foliage and fly only the specimen stems, which is better for the flowers and better for the invoice.

What happens to everything afterwards?

Armatures are ours and come back to the rack on Via Tortona. Cut stems are composted at the Brianza field; anything still living is replanted there. We have not sent flowers to landfill since 2019, and the studio has been carbon-neutral since the same year.

Can we see the drawing before committing?

Yes. The palette session and the 1:50 drawing are billed as a standalone commission of €650. If you go on to book the full project that sum comes off the final invoice; if you do not, the drawing is still yours.
