Waypoint 01 · Trailhead · the challenge

Six stores. One contact page. Chains on every peak.

Six branches shared one generic contact page and inconsistent listings, so international chains appeared first for 'туристически обувки' near Bansko, Borovets and Sofia.

In mountain towns, the map pack is the shop window. A hiker who snaps a lace in Bansko or needs ski hire in Borovets types a gear term and taps the first pin with stock. Bistrets had the stock, the staff and the locations closest to the lifts — but Google could not tell its six stores apart, and three of them did not qualify for gear searches at all.

Hazards on the route

  1. 01 · Local

One contact page for six stores

Every profile linked to /contact. Google had no page to tie each listing to its town, so relevance leaked to chains with store pages.

  2. 02 · Local

    Two unverified, one duplicate

Pamporovo was unclaimed, Borovets was unverified and Velingrad had a duplicate splitting 61 reviews across two pins.

  3. 03 · Local

    Wrong primary categories

Three profiles listed as “Shoe store” or “Clothing store”, not Outdoor sports store, so they were never eligible for gear queries.

  4. 04 · Citations

    Two names, many spellings

64 citations used “Бистрец Аутдор”, “Bistrets”, “Bistrec” and old phone numbers; 29 disagreed with the profile.

  5. 05 · Inventory

    No stock on the map

Chains showed “In stock nearby” via local inventory; Bistrets showed nothing, though its POS knew every pair of boots per store.

  6. 06 · Reviews

    38% of reviews unanswered

212 reviews averaging 4.3, Borovets at 3.9 from rental-season complaints left without a reply for months.

  7. 07 · Technical

    No LocalBusiness schema

No structured address, geo or opening hours; winter and summer hours for the ski towns were missing everywhere.

  8. 08 · Content

    English-only product copy

Searchers typed “туристически обувки”, but category pages were English, with no Bulgarian names for the core gear.

Waypoint 03 · Route · the strategy

Four signposts, one trail

Built on our Local plan. Each tactic is a signpost the next one depends on: a verified profile needs a page to point to, a page needs stock to show, and stock needs reviews to convert the tap.

01

Google Business Profile

0.5 km

Claim, verify and merge; correct categories; seasonal hours; products and weekly posts with trailhead photos from each store.

02

Local landing pages

2 km

Six town pages in Bulgarian and English: LocalBusiness schema, stock highlights, parking, directions from lifts, huts and bus stops.

03

Inventory feeds

4 km

A nightly POS feed of 1,240 SKUs with per-store stock, so boots, tents and ski hire show “In stock” on the right profile.

04

Review strategy

6 km

QR prompts on receipts and rental returns, replies inside 48 hours in the reviewer’s language, and recurring themes fed back to stores.
