El retoThe challenge

Forty artisans sold through resellers who used their photos; the cooperative's own site had no content explaining provenance, dyes or care.

Tierra Añil is a cooperative of forty weavers and dyers outside Oaxaca. Their cloth is dyed in fermented indigo vats, sometimes eight dips deep, and woven on backstrap and pedal looms. That knowledge was the most valuable thing they had, and none of it was online under their own name.

Resellers told the story instead, using the cooperative's photographs, and collected the margin. The brief: make the makers the source, in Spanish and English, and be the answer when people ask how indigo works or how to care for it.

DiagnósticoWhat the audit found

  1. 01 · Provenance

The cooperative's photos ranked for other people

A reverse-image crawl found 212 of the artisans' product photos on nine reseller domains, none credited. Google indexed the resellers' copies first, so they were treated as the originals.

    212 images · 9 domains

  2. 02 · Brand SERP

Third-party sellers above its own name

For 'Tierra Añil rebozo' the cooperative's site sat ninth, beneath three marketplace listings and two resellers. Buyers who already knew the name paid a middleman to reach it.

    #9 for own name

  3. 03 · Content

Product pages with nothing to say

Fourteen indexable pages; eleven were products with a price, a size and roughly thirty words. No mention of dye source, number of dips, weaver or how to wash the piece.

    ~30 words / page

  4. 04 · Language

Spanish only, for an English-reading market

One in five visitors arrived from English-language searches and landed on Spanish copy. No English URLs, no hreflang, no translated structured data.

    0 hreflang tags

  5. 05 · Entities

    No machine-readable maker

No Organization, Product or Person markup. Search engines could not connect the forty artisans, the cooperative and the cloth as one entity.

  6. 06 · AI answers

La estrategiaFour threads, one cloth

Built on our Content Engine plan: a monthly editorial programme that turns what a business knows into pages search engines and AI answers can trust. Here, the four tactics below.

  1. Hilo 1 · Thread 1

    Las manosArtisan storytelling

Forty artisan profiles (who they are, which loom, which pieces) with Person markup, linked from every product they made. Product copy now states the dye lot, number of dips and the weaver. Original photographs carry captions, credits and EXIF so the cooperative is the visible source.

  2. Hilo 2 · Thread 2

    Madejas de temasTopic clusters

Four clusters (dye, loom, care, provenance), each a pillar page with eight supporting guides. Every product links up to its dye, loom and care guides, and every guide links down to the pieces it describes.

  3. Hilo 3 · Thread 3

    Dos lenguasBilingual content

Each guide is written in Spanish with the artisans, then adapted into English by a human editor who keeps the craft words (rebozo, jiquilite, telar de cintura) and explains them. Paired URLs, reciprocal hreflang and a glossary page tie the two together.

  4. Hilo 4 · Thread 4

    Respuestas IAAI Overviews

Care and process guides open with a 40–60 word answer, then the first-hand detail: vat temperature, dips per shade, wash tests. FAQ and HowTo markup, dated revisions and named authors give AI answers a maker to cite.

how to wash indigo dyed fabric

Wash natural indigo cold, by hand, with a pH-neutral soap, and dry it in the shade. Some colour loss in the first two washes is normal…
