Ball one · the tilt
A single founder was competing with venture-backed bundle apps, buried on page four of the Shopify App Store and invisible for 'best bundle app' searches.
Orbwright is one developer in Plovdiv with a genuinely good bundle builder. The funded leaders had marketing teams, thousands of reviews and listings tuned to every bundle query. Merchants searching the app store saw four of them before Orbwright ever appeared, and on Google the “best bundle app” lists simply did not include it.
The brief was not to outspend anyone. It was to aim every shot: make the listing earn its position, and give Google pages that answer what merchants actually search before they install.
The 30-character app name spent 18 characters on the brand alone; “bundle” appeared nowhere in the name or subtitle.
Fix · Name rewritten to lead with the brand plus “Bundles & Mix-and-Match”; subtitle carries the second term.
Six screenshots with no captions, so the listing could not explain value in the four seconds a merchant scrolls past.
Fix · Captioned, outcome-led screenshots, one job per frame, with the setup time on frame one.
Eleven reviews against rivals with thousands; no in-app moment ever asked a happy merchant for one.
Fix · A review prompt fired after the first bundle earns its first order, never during setup.
Docs lived on a JavaScript-rendered subdomain; 61% of help pages returned empty HTML to crawlers.
Fix · Docs moved to static, server-rendered pages on the main domain with clean internal links.
No page answered “best bundle app” or compared Orbwright to the funded leaders merchants were already shortlisting.
Fix · Honest comparison pages with a feature matrix and a stated “when the other app is the better pick”.
No SoftwareApplication, Offer or FAQ markup; pricing and rating never surfaced in Google results.
Fix · SoftwareApplication + Offer schema on the homepage and pricing, FAQPage on the comparisons.
