01 · The challenge

Buyers finished their research before Kaizu knew they existed.

Plant managers researched automation ROI alone for months, and the integrator showed up only once they were already talking to competitors.

Automation is a slow, private decision. A plant manager at a Tier-2 supplier in Aichi spends months working out whether a cobot will pay back on a palletising cell or a CNC line — reading guides, watching commissioning videos and, increasingly, asking AI search. Kaizu had the engineering answers, but they lived in engineers’ heads, scanned PDFs and untitled YouTube uploads.

By the time a request for quote arrived, the shortlist was set. Sales was answering questions a competitor’s blog had answered half a year earlier.

4 HIGH · 4 MED · 0 PASS

  1. E-01Content · High

Organised by robot model, not by job

Every page was a product page (arm, payload, reach). Zero pages for palletising, machine tending, welding or screwdriving — the words plant managers actually search.

  2. E-02Content · High

    ROI questions left unanswered

No page targeted cost, payback or cycle-time queries. The one price sheet was a gated PDF, so the research phase happened on competitors' sites.

  3. E-03Video · High

    63 commissioning videos, invisible

Default titles like "IMG_0412", no chapters, no transcripts, embedded nowhere on the site and no VideoObject markup.

  4. E-04AI Overviews · High

Cited in 0 of 120 tracked answers

Competitors were cited in 37 AI Overview answers for automation questions. Kaizu had no extractable definitions, tables or step lists to quote.

  5. E-05Technical · Med

Case studies locked in scanned PDFs

11 project write-ups as image-only PDFs: no indexable text, no internal links, no dates.

  6. E-06International · Med

    JP and EN pages competing

Machine-translated English duplicates with no hreflang, so Japanese pages lost to their own copies in mixed-language results.

  7. E-07Architecture · Med

    A blog with no wiring

38 posts averaging 0.4 internal links in. No hub pages, so authority never pooled around a topic.

  8. E-08Local · Med

    Wrong category in Aichi

Business profile listed as "Machinery supplier", missing the Chubu-region integrator searches that convert fastest.

03 · The program

Answer every automation question first, in the format each one is asked.

Built on our Content Engine plan: a question map turned into job-based clusters, guides engineers sign off, videos that rank in their own right and answer blocks AI search can cite. Four instructions, run in order.

  1. 001 MOVJ

    Topic clusters

Six clusters built around the jobs cobots do, each with a hub page that answers the buyer's first question and links down to every deeper guide.

    • › 6 hubs · 52 spokes
    • › Hub → spoke → case study linking
    • › JP-first, EN with hreflang
  2. 002 MOVL

    Application guides

Long-form guides per application: cycle times, payload maths, floor-space drawings, safety assessment and a payback calculator worked through with real line numbers.

    • › Payback tables per application
    • › Downloadable layout drawings
    • › Reviewed by the lead engineer
  3. 003 MOVC

    Video SEO

The commissioning footage re-cut into short answers, retitled to the query, chaptered, transcribed and embedded in the guide it explains, with VideoObject markup and key moments.

    • › 63 videos retitled & chaptered
    • › Transcripts on-page
    • › Key-moment timestamps
  4. 004 WELD

    AI Overviews

Every guide opens with a two-sentence definition, a comparison table and numbered steps — the shapes answer engines lift and cite — plus author and review dates.

    • › 120 questions tracked weekly
    • › Definition + table + steps blocks
    • › Entity-consistent naming
