01 · The challenge

03:00. Hazards on. Phone at 9%.

Stranded drivers call the first number they see, and lead-gen call centres were taking those top spots.

A stranded driver doesn’t compare towing companies. They type “tow truck near me”, tap the first green Call button in the map pack and hope. For Hookline Towing’s twelve trucks, that tap was going somewhere else: to call centres with keyword-stuffed names and virtual-office pins, which then auctioned the job — often back to Hookline, at a 30% cut.

The trucks were already the closest ones on I-25 at night. The task was to make Google see that, and to prove it with every ring of the dispatch phone.

02 · Diagnosis

Six warning lights on the dash.

A local audit of the profile, the site, 46 citations and the 20 map results that appear for towing searches across the metro at night.

  • LOCALCritical

    Out-ranked by phantom listings

Eleven of the 20 map results for “tow truck near me” across north Denver were lead-gen call centres on virtual-office addresses, reselling jobs to whoever answered.

  • LOCALCritical

    Wrong primary category

Profile listed as “Auto repair shop” with towing as a secondary. Google was matching it to oil changes, not breakdowns.

  • LOCALHigh

Hours said closed at 6 p.m.

The trucks ran 24/7 but the profile didn’t. After-hours searches — 41% of towing demand — never saw the listing.

  • TRACKHigh

No idea which calls came from search

One landline on the van, the site, the profile and every directory. Marketing spend couldn’t be tied to a single job.

  • SITEHigh

    One page for 14 corridors

A single “Service areas” page listing 38 suburb names. Nothing about I-25, I-70 or where a driver actually breaks down.

  • SCHEMAMed

    No structured data, mismatched NAP

No LocalBusiness markup; three spellings of the address and two phone numbers across 46 citations.

03 · The strategy

Four instruments, one dispatch phone.

Built on our Local plan: win the map pack where breakdowns happen, and measure the result in calls rather than clicks.

  1. GBP
    Tactic 01

    Google Business Profile

Category surgery, true 24/7 hours, a verified yard address, 64 night-shot photos of real trucks, corridor-specific posts weekly and a post-job review text that asks drivers to mention the road they were on.

  2. SAP
    Tactic 02

    Service-area pages

Fourteen corridor pages — I-25 Tech Center, I-70 Floyd Hill, C-470, DIA approach — each with exit-by-exit response times, recovery photos and the hazards specific to that stretch.

  3. SCH
    Tactic 03

    LocalBusiness schema

AutomotiveBusiness markup with 24/7 openingHoursSpecification, areaServed per corridor page, a service catalogue and NAP matching the profile character-for-character.

  4. TRK
    Tactic 04

    Call tracking

A tracking number as the profile’s primary line, dynamic numbers on the site, and recorded dispatch calls graded for answer time so every ring is attributed to a source.
