hearing-test bookings from maps

Read it like a hearing test. Each column is a clinic; the lower its mark, the quieter (more generic) a search can be and still find it. The dashed line is the local map pack. At the start, only Rathmines cleared it.

01The challenge

Five clinics the map couldn’t hear.

Inconsistent addresses across 140 directories and a single generic contact page left five of the six clinics out of the local pack.

Brannagh Hearing runs six audiology clinics from Drogheda to Bray. Patients search the way they talk — “hearing test near me”, “ear wax removal Naas” — and Google answers those with a three-clinic map pack. Only the flagship Rathmines clinic had the consistency and reviews to qualify. The other five existed online as a tangle of half-right listings that pointed to one generic contact form, so the engine could not be confident which address, phone or service belonged to which town.

The commercial cost was simple: people booking a first hearing test rarely travel past the nearest clinic. If the nearest Brannagh clinic was invisible, the booking went elsewhere.

02Diagnosis

The baseline test: six findings, graded like hearing loss.

Severity reflects how much each issue held back local-pack eligibility across the group.

  1. 01 · Local · CitationsSevere

    Six clinics, 23 address variants

Across 140 directories the group appeared as “Brannagh Hearing Ltd”, “Brannagh Audiology” and “Brannagh Hearing Care”, with four old Rathmines suite numbers, missing Eircodes and two retired phone numbers still live.

  2. 02 · Local · Google Business ProfileSevere

Wrong primary category on five profiles

Five profiles used “Medical clinic” rather than “Audiologist”, two duplicated listings split reviews for Swords, and Drogheda had no opening hours, so it rarely qualified for “open now” searches.

  3. 03 · Content · Location pagesSevere

One contact page for six towns

Every profile linked to /contact. Nothing on the site mentioned Naas, Bray or Drogheda by name, parking, accessibility, or which tests each clinic actually runs.

  4. 04 · Technical · Structured dataModerate

    No LocalBusiness markup anywhere

Search engines had no machine-readable link between each clinic, its address, geo-coordinates, hours and the services it offers.

  5. 05 · Technical · Crawl & speedMild

    Booking widget blocked rendering

A third-party booking script loaded synchronously in the head; mobile LCP sat at 4.1 s on the contact page.

  6. 06 · Content · ReviewsModerate

92% of reviews on one clinic

Post-appointment review requests only ever pointed to the Rathmines profile, leaving outer clinics with fewer than 15 reviews each.

03The strategy

One consistent signal, broadcast from six addresses.

Built on our Local plan: 4 tactics, run in sequence so each clinic’s identity was settled before it was amplified.

  1. T1

    Google Business Profile

Six profiles rebuilt as six distinct, verified clinics.

    • Primary category set to Audiologist, with Hearing aid store as secondary
    • Duplicates merged; hours, holiday hours and wheelchair access attributes added
    • Services listed per clinic: hearing test, tinnitus assessment, wax removal, hearing-aid fitting
    • Review requests routed to the clinic the patient actually visited
  2. T2

    Location pages

A real page for every clinic, linked from its profile.

    • /clinics/naas, /clinics/bray and four more, each with its own audiologists, parking and bus routes
    • Clinic-specific booking links so maps traffic lands one tap from a slot
    • Town-specific FAQs: walk-in times, PRSI hearing-aid grant, home visits
    • Internal links from service pages to the nearest clinic
  3. T3

    LocalBusiness schema

    Machine-readable identity for each address.

    • MedicalClinic + LocalBusiness JSON-LD on every location page
    • Geo-coordinates, Eircode, opening hours and sameAs links to each profile
    • Organization markup tying all six to the parent brand
    • Validated in Rich Results Test and monitored monthly
  4. T4

    Citation cleanup

142 citations corrected so every source says the same thing.

    • One canonical name, address and number per clinic, agreed in week one
    • Aggregators updated first, then health directories and Irish business listings
    • Old suite numbers and retired phone lines suppressed or redirected
    • Quarterly re-scan to catch regressions
